Contest Time!

Like many of you, I write in my books as I read, making note of favorite passages, adding side comments and insights, and even writing in the occasional expletive when a favorite character dies (looking at you, George R.R. Martin).

Well, LitReactor wants to see your annotations and margin notes! As an example, I’ve included a photo of a page from my personal copy of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce.

Here are the rules:

  • Send us an image of either your most heavily annotated pages or your most interesting annotations.
  • If the book title and author aren’t clear in the image, make sure to include them in your submission.
  • The deadline for submission is Friday, March 13th, 2015
  • Prizes include a copy of the new Jonathan Lethem collection, Lucky Alan, and a copy of the new TPB of Frog Music by Emma Donoghue.
  • The winner will have first choice from the prizes and the runner up will receive the remaining book.

You can submit your photos to the tumblr or tweet them to us using #annotatedcontest

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Reminder to send in your submissions!

It’s contest time!

For this contest, we’re asking for you to make a journal entry from the point of view of your favorite villain or antagonist. Pretty fun, right? Right. So here are the rules:

  1. The entry must be from the point of view of any comic book or literary villain/antagonist. Protagonists you think are especially villainous are fair game as well. Always wanted to know what Big Brother wrote about in his diary? Well here’s your chance!
  2. Word count should be 300 words or less and blog posts are an acceptable form of entry.
  3. Send us your submissions here or tweet them to us.
  4. Be creative! What else did Tom Riddle write in that diary of his? Does Joffrey Baratheon have a burn book? You can go in any direction you want with these entries, the crazier the better.
  5. Deadline for submissions is Saturday, June 22.
  6. The winner will receive an Advanced Readers Copy of Chuck Palahniuk’s new book, DOOMED. Pretty fucking cool, right?

If you have any questions, hit up the askbox, tweet us, or email me at emilyrlathrop@gmail.com.

Now get writing, I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
