Eleanor Catton wins the Booker Prize: Famous Dead Authors React

nomoreliteraryheroes:

We’re all loving The Luminaries now that Eleanor Catton has won the Booker and even though there are hints here and there that her astrologically based novel of incomplete narratives set in the 19th century New Zealand gold rush might not be the easiest of reads, Catton, like all other previous winners can be sure of this: however complex and demanding the plot, however cryptic and convoluted the prose, however multiple the layers and unreliable the narrators, everyone is still going to rush out and buy a copy of your book. What they will say about your work afterwards might be another matter. But your sales will rock.

The FDAs, who have also sold a book or two in their time, did not hesitate in commenting on the news of Catton’s win.

Sadly @iamacockroach, Catton is happily married. Better luck next time.
